Axine has developed a low-cost, chemical-free solution for treating high concentrations of problematic, toxic organics, ammonia, and other pollutants in industrial wastewater solving a multi-billion dollar problem for large companies in a wide range of industries. Its energy-efficient, scalable system treats recalcitrant and non-biodegradable organics, ammonia, and some inorganics (up to 10,000 mg/L COD) at up to five times lower cost than conventional chemical or biological solutions. And due to its compact, modular design, it is designed to seamlessly "plug into" existing treatment plants, targeting specific pain points without disruption to current processes. This means for the first time, oil & gas, refining, chemical production, and other heavy industries can avoid the production bottlenecks, high treatment and disposal costs, water reuse limitations, and difficulties meeting increasingly tougher regulations that have plagued them for decades.
Gridtential Gridtential has developed a high-performance, low-cost energy storage technology for renewable energy and electric vehicle applications. Performance benefits of the technology include high efficiency, increased energy density and longer life than competing solutions. Total system cost is expected to be less than half that of existing products. The company is lead by CEO Christiaan Beekhuis. Gridtential is presently building prototype units and plans initial field tests for early 2014.
mOasis mOasis has created a soil amendment product that increases crop yields while simultaneously reducing the need for fertilizer, water and water-related energy use. The product is a new type of hydrogel, a polymer known for its ability to absorb massive quantities of water. The mOasis product is able to enhance the amount of moisture and nutrients available to a plant's root zone and significantly reduce water stress between rain or irrigation cycles. The company is led by Susanna Kass, CEO and Dr. Nai Hong Li, Co-Founder and CTO. mOasis is currently conducting field trials, managed by prominent agriculture scientists, that have already produced promising results.
Inventys Inventys has developed an energy and capital-efficient technology for capturing carbon dioxide from industrial sources. The company's proprietary process is less than one-third the cost of existing industrial CO2 capture technologies and will enable the widespread adoption of carbon capture and sequestration. The company is led by CEO Andre Boulet and fellow co-founders Brett Henkel, Soheil Khiavi and Darryl Wolanski. Inventys is building an in-house pilot unit capable of capturing multiple tons of CO2 per day from a natural gas power generator by late 2012 and will be deploying field units with major industry partners in 2013.
